How and Why It Works
Acupuncture is a highly effective solution to increasing success rates in pregnancy for couples looking to start a family, but experiencing difficulties. It is completely safe and there are no side effects. Acupuncture can also be used conjointly with your IVF treatments as it is typically done before and after IVF treatments. This is done because it not only prepares and strengthens the body for the success of your fertility treatments, but it also increases the chance that the embryo will be implanted successfully and reduces the chance of miscarriage. Acupuncture increases blood flow to the womb which provides a better chance that the egg(s) will be nourished and therefore carried full-term.
Acupuncture helps to increase a woman’s fertility by improving blood flow to the ovaries and uterus which thickens the lining of the uterus, increasing the chances of conception. It also corrects problems with the body’s neuroendocrine system by activating the brain to release hormones that will stimulate the ovaries, adrenal glands and other organs involved in reproduction. In this same way, acupuncture can also help infertile men by stimulating sperm production. In addition to these benefits, some other marked benefits include the improved effectiveness of IVF drugs when acupuncture is done at least once a week in the month or two leading up to the start of your IVF treatments and then continued regularly about once or twice a week throughout the entirety.

Stress Relief
Trying to conceive through IVF can be an extremely stressful time for couples, but Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can help to relieve that stress by stimulating and releasing endorphins into your body; whereby, adjusting and stabilizing your overall mood, enhancing immunity, and in turn, improving your overall quality of life. These improvements alone can help with a couple’s success in conceiving and carrying full-term.

Week One
Strengthen kidney and spleen (pre-heaven and post-heaven organs), to promote follicle growth. TCM recognizes the kidneys is the initial source to produce the original reproductive Qi. The spleen is an important organ that continues to support Qi and blood. Therefore, the treatment should be focused on strengthening kidney and spleen in the first stage of the menstrual cycle.

Week Three
Warm Yang and nourish Yin to promote progesterone growth. The core priniciple is tone and strengthen the kidneys by nourishing the kidneys. Strengthening Yang in kidney meridian warms Qi and blood to remove stagnation in ovaries and uterus, consequently activating progesterone.
Week Four
Spread live Qi and blood to regulate menstruation; or strengthen spleen and kidney to protect the fetus during pregnancy.
In the last week before menstruation, with most women experiencing infertility, liver Qi stagnation is present which leads to blood stasis, causing dysmenorrhea. Therefore, treatment principle should focus on moving and stimulating stagnated Qi and stasis of blood to release dysmenorrhea.
If fertilized or pregnant during this week, most women who have suffered with infertility still experience a deficiency of Qi and blood, resulting in heighten potential for miscarriage. If you have a history of miscarriage, or have symptoms and/or signs of Qi and blood deficiency, you need
